This violin is a classical instrument with an unmistakable Saxonian provenance. It was built approx. 1900 in Markneukirchen, the famous center of violin making in the Vogtland region. The instrument clearly shows its origin with characteristically rounded edges and corners. It was built after a Stradivari model with low ribs. The carefully executed purfling is a work of skilled craftsmanship, that was made by an unknown luthier. The beautiful, red-brown varnish bears quite strong traces of intensive playing, as are typical for antique violins with good musical qualities. Besides these traces of use the violin is in undamaged condition and was carefully worked over by our luthier, who made it ready to play. With precise and immediate response the warm and large sound of the violin unfolds, that bears good volume and is excellently balanced across the strings. The quality of tone is outstanding for a violin of this price range.
