This historic violin, which was crafted around 1880, is an exceptional instrument that is unmistakably part of the Mittenwald tradition. There is doubt that this violin comes from the famous Bavarian violin-making town, given its typical style with a reddish-brown varnish and a well-proportioned, flamed scroll. Elegant artisanry can also be seen in the purfling, the two-piece back of mildly flamed maple and the small, elegantly cut soundholes. Even a minor repair to the button was performed by an experienced hand, and its solid workmanship is evident. The violin was made ready to play after being carefully set up in our atelier, enhancing its warm, bright, somewhat mellow sound and rapid response.
