This good German violin bow was made in the 1960s in Markneukirchen by an unknown, talented bowmaker. The exceptionally well balanced weight that lets this bow feel heavier in the hand than its actual weight of 58.2 g suggests, the agile, almost "French" character and the immediate response are superior to most bows of this class. The balance point is measured at 27.0 cm of 74.5 cm total length and feels well centered and broad, slightly shifted towards the upper half. The octagonal stick is of good stiffness and made of orange-brown pernambuco wood, the ebony frog is nickel mounted, with a mother of pearle eye and a rose-white shimmering slide. An active and responsive bow, a strong player, that produces a warm, mellow sound full of character. This bow complements clear, brilliant, somehwat sharp sounding violins.
